Ether 12:4 Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with asurety bhope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which chope cometh of dfaith, maketh an eanchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in fgood works, being led to gglorify God.
I have read this verse a million times before but today I finally see its meaning more clearly with the help of another verse:
Hebrews 7:19 aFor the law made nothing bperfect, but the bringing in of a cbetter hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
First we believe which causes us to hope. that hope, as we see evidences of our hope happening each day leads to faith. That faith brings us closer to God and therefore we feel encouraged to continue on the path. This continuing causes us to be ever more obedient to the commandments and serving those around us.
The commandments don’t make us perfect. But the hope that obedience to the commandments will bless our lives is the first step toward fulfilling that obedience. Then as we see that things improve due to following Christ we have a better understanding of Him which leads to faith in Him and that He will help us and that faith eventually leads to a knowledge of the truth and a relationship with Him which can’t be denied.
